It's Thursday and today we're going to look at the NEW Sailor Moon Artemis and Luna plush released by GE in August of 2012!
Quality - Now I'm going to be BRUTALLY honest guys, the quality of these plush is lacking, severely. These plush aren't at all held to any high standards. I've seen UFO plush from Japan far better than these. Unfortunately, you have a very cheap material that can't decide if it wants to be velvet or plush. You have stitching on the eyes that seems to occasionally color outside of the lines. The stitching seems fairly well done, except in some area's where it would appear strained (belly and backside). Finally, they are a bit stiff to hug unfortunately and at the same time, flimsy in at least one of each of their legs.
Appearance - I have to admit, poor Luna and Artemis were done a great injustice. Here we have 2 wonderful kitties, that seem to have had their legs cut off at the knees and their feet sewn to them... that is to say, they have stubby little feet that are awkwardly posed! I can understand their possible "chibi" look, but unfortunately, it comes off like a baseball with ears and sewn features instead. And let's face it, those poor kitties have a LOT of junk in their trunks apparently!! Alas, while these poor kitties are recognizable yet, there is a certain .. "je ne sais quoi" about them that makes them semi-cute if nothing else. I just wish GE would have added actual FEATURES to these poor darlings .. and perhaps just a HINT of accuracy?!
Packaging - While my item came wonderfully wrapped in plastic, with even their whiskers taped to the sides of their faces (to prevent them from bending), I can only hope others were as well! The tags aren't attached to the ears either, which is nice. As it avoids any holes in places you really don't want them. Instead they are attached to the rather large GE tag that hangs off of them.
Art - Once again, same ol' same ol' from GE. Sailor Moon and Luna striking a pose with the logo atop. Nothing to see here folks .. move along .. heh.
Functionality - Functionally speaking, this plush does what it's set out to do, be cuddly and fun to take along. And that it does, somewhat. They're a little hard to cuddle with, being their size and stiffness. Though they are plush, they are pretty tightly packed. Leaving more or less for a display purpose than a snuggling one.
Fun - Despite their flaws, it's a total blast to have these two hanging out with you! Perch one on your shoulder for kicks in a photoshoot .. or on your head even! Or take them over to a sleepover to hang out with your friends and watch out for the negaverse! Either way, they're a fun couple of kitties to have around by your side.
Cost - This range from about $14.99 to $20.00 each, depending on where you go.
Availability - Once again, it would appear the availability of this is fairly good. Some of the more prominent Anime shops seem to be carrying them, while Amazon and eBay continue to sell to Moonies all over as well.
These kitties are certainly something you'll want to add to your collection. After all, it's been quite a while since we've seen LICENSED Sailor Moon plush come out. While they aren't "terrible" to look at or have, if you can get past their flaws and see them for WHO they are, they really are a blast to have.
